Do you have any bad habits? This week at Harper Morgan English we’re talking about different ways to break our bad habits.
This great TED talk by Judson Brewer discusses mindfulness training and how it could be the best way to train ourselves out of our bad behaviour. Mindfulness is all about being very aware of our actions and our motivations for these actions. Judson explains that in order to really understand, and ultimately stop our bad behaviours, we should be curious about the reasons we do them.
So, here are some questions for you to think about;
Have you ever tried to stop your bad habits? What did you do to quit? How did you quit?
Do you think it’s possible to change our behaviour by just being curious about it? Would doing this help someone stop their habits or encourage them to continue?
How do you feel about mindfulness? Do you think it’s a good method to use to quit habits? Are there any negatives to mindfulness? Is is simply a something to replace the bad behaviour?
Nowadays, people send a lot of their time thinking about themselves. Is it possible that mindfulness just encourages narcissistic behaviour? Could it cause more problems?
