Cambridge English Proficiency is the highest level Cambridge exam you can take and it demonstrates that you have a true understanding of English in even the most complex contexts. Your communication abilities and fluency would be that of a native English speaker and, in some cases, greater. Most who take CPE do so for career advancement or educational progression to postgraduate or PhD levels.
Much like the other Cambridge English Exams, the Proficiency exam test your Reading, Use of English, Writing, Speaking and Listening skills; the difference, though, is the sophistication of the responses you are expected to give. The exam can be taken as a paper-based or computer-based test and lasts about 4 hours. Exam centers usually offer it two or three times per year.
It is no secret that English is full of nuances which require years of immersion to fully understand and the CPE exam is created in such a way that fully tests your understanding of these nuances as well as your ability to express yourself using them.
Preparation for the Proficiency exam is challenging. It involves acquiring the highest understanding of English grammar as well as a wide range of vocabulary. Often having experienced a broad range of topics and types of English is useful in getting yourself ready for the exam.
At Harper Morgan English, we strive to help you reach the C2 level both by teaching and reinforcing the fundamentals of grammar and vocabulary as well as helping you experience a variety of texts and situations which will help you tackle the exam with confidence.
