The Cambridge English Preliminary exam shows your ability to communicate in day to day situations and understand conversational English. People usually take this exam as a way to show their language development and is often the minimum accepted qualification for hiring employees.
The PET exam is organised in three parts; Reading and Writing, Listening and Speaking. It tests your knowledge of commonplace language and your ability to explain yourself in a confident and comfortable way. The tasks usually include writing notes, reading short texts and talking about yourself and other people. The exam lasts around 2 hours and 20 minutes and exam centers usually offer this five or six times a year.
To prepare for the B1 you should be confident with basic English grammar and vocabulary as well as to have experienced some of the day to day situations that will come up in the exam. This is why it is advisable to attend a course where you can practice communicating with your teacher and classmates.
