This great talk suggests adults should learn from children. Adora explains that we should embrace kids’ optimistic perceptions of the world because without being optimistic about the future, we’re very unlikely to make good things happen. She goes on to say that adults distrust children’s ideas. Adora suggests we should actually learn to look at the world as children do.
Remember yourself as a child? Were you the kid who believed you could do anything? Did you ever have someone tell you, ‘that’s impossible!’? If so, how did you feel?
Do you think it’s important to encourage children to dream big or are they simply naive? At what point should children ‘grow up’ and see the world in a more realistic way? Does pessimism protect us from getting hurt?
