Sporting Enhancements
This week Maria Sharapova revealed that she had failed a drug test at the Australian Open. Since her announcement she has been dropped by her sponsors and is waiting to find out how long she will be banned for by the World Tennis Association.
Some reactions to the news have been sympathetic with those who believe she has done well to address the problem herself. However, there are other athletes who believe that she should not be allowed back into tennis.
Here are some questions for you to consider;
The drug Sharapova was taking was only banned in January 2016, is it wrong that she was using it before the ban? Should she be punished retroactively? Is is wrong to take any sort of medication to improve your job performance?
Should Sharapova be receiving a more negative reaction from her followers? She revealed the news herself and this has won people onto her side; many of her fans appreciate her honesty. Do you think this is the right reaction to have? Or, should the public be less sympathetic towards her because she has been cheating?
