This great talk by Graham Hill discusses a way we could help both ourselves and the environment by simply becoming weekday vegetarians. Graham explains that there are many problems with eating meat; it is damaging to our health, it is often cruel to the animals which are raised for consumption and it is bad for the environment. He also talks about how difficult it is for most people to give up meat entirely. An alternative to committing to vegetarianism, he says, is to be a vegetarian during the week but eat what you want at the weekend.
Here are some things for you to consider;
Do you ever think about where your food comes from? How often do you think about the way animals are raised for food? Does this bother you?
Would you consider becoming a ‘weekday veg’? Do you think this would be difficult to do? What effects would this have on your life? Would there be any negative effects of this?
Is it okay to limit our commitment to something such as this? Is it enough to simply not eat meat during the week? Or, should we all try to cut out meat all together?
